If you were not sure about switching from the known Android or iOS operating systems, it is the right time to make the switch. The Nokia Lumia 630 features an improved and colourful design with the Windows 8.1 mobile OS which will easily change your perspective about the operating system. It has plenty of new features, has affordable pricing and most of all offers a fresh user interface that should keep early adopters happy.

The Nokia Lumia 630 is an affordable and colorful Windows Phone 8.1 handset, one of the first devices running on Microsoft’s operating system to come in both a single and a dual-SIM variants.

Design
The colorful design and wrap-around cover make this an unmistakably Nokia phone, however, the cheap plastic design spoils the otherwise good impressions.

The colourful design of the Nokia Lumia 630 is one of its unique features that you can’t find with any other manufacturer. You can choose between a wide range of colors including orange, green, blue, red among others. The rounded edges with the matte finish fits in a compact manner within your grip. The phone is slimmer but may feel a bit wider for people with small hands. The shell is removable and you can additionally add a grip cover or a fancy flip cover is you desire.

Display
The 4.5-inch display is not among the sharpest, but its punchy colors and good viewing angles are above what you’d expect of an affordable device.
Sporting a great looking 4.5 inch Clear Black display, the Nokia Lumia 630 is a phone that will keep all entertainment and gaming buffs happy. While the Windows OS is yet to receive huge list of Store apps, it has some selective titles that are worthy additions. The display is sharp, reproduces colors perfectly and is supported by a 271 pixels per inch which is well justified for its price tag. The phone has a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels which is definitely not 1080p quality but it should suffice most user requirements.

Performance

The Lumia 630 is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor and has 512 MB of RAM. While Nokia and Microsoft has decided to go for an excellent quad core processor, they have spoiled the fun by keeping the RAM really low. Even the newly released smart watches sport 512 megabyte RAM these days. However, given that the phone runs on Windows Phone 8.1, the performance is slick, user interface is responsive and most apps open without lag or hanging issues. Most apps will work smooth except for demanding games that require at least 1 GB of RAM.

Camera

The smartphone model from Nokia sports a basic 5 megapixel camera which produces decent pictures. However, it doesn’t have LED flash or a front facing camera. The phone is clearly aimed at people in the Indian market who are entering into the smartphone world and not for selfie lovers who snap pictures every hour. Some camera options are aspect ratio, ISO and exposure value along with a night mode. The camera usually takes more time to focus.

Battery

The 1430 mAh battery should easily last you more than 24 hours without any problems. We found it last more than a day on limited usage.

Verdict

The Nokia Lumia 630 offers great value for money and a new smartphone experience with Windows Phone 8.1 if you are willing to overlook its mediocre camera quality and low RAM. The phone is available from major retailers at Rs. 9,500 approximately.
